Steps to optimize or speed up DSL and cable modem connections
1. Go to the Start menu and select Run.
2. Type in Regedit and click OK.
3. The registry editor should be open now. Navigate to the following path using the folders on the left panel of the registry editor program: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParameters
DWORD values to create:
– DefaultTTL
– EnablePMTUBHDetect
– EnablePMTUDiscovery
– TcpWindowSize5. After each DWORD value above is created you must set the Value data of each (by double clicking on each new DWORD value that you created) as follows:
DefaultTTL – Value data= 80 Hexadecimal
EnablePMTUBHDetect – Value data= 0 Hexadecimal
EnablePMTUDiscovery – Value data= 1 Hexadecimal
TcpWindowSize – Value data= faf0 Hexadecimal
This completes the process for speeding up your broadband cable or DSL connection.
